Goal, Lonzo, Lotti and even Wenzel – Reunions with familiar and over 70 new oddball characters.Rufus travels through time – with dramatic consequences.Fan service: Some players called for an alternate ending and another part to the Deponia saga. ![]() Following Goodbye Deponia, the first game developed 100% by Jan Müller-Michaelis (alias Poki).Utopia mixed with Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar – Welcome to Deponia Doomsday! In the features list, Daedalic Entertainment promises around 20 hours of gameplay: Not knowing if it was a dream or a vision, Rufus learns there are several time anomalies and uses a time machine to “duly muddle up the past, present and future.” Really hard to keep track of what’s going on, and I’d appreciate it if somebody could explain it point by point or something.A point-and-click adventure game, Deponia Doomsday is the fourth part in the series and sees anti-hero Rufus waking up after seeing the flying city of Elysium falling. The ending of the first game showed Goal siding with Rufus, until she finds out all he really wanted was to get on Deponia, then she distrusts him, but also doesn’t trust Cletus? Except then she trusts Cletus again for…some reason? (Answered: she convinced Cletus to tell the truth to Elysium, but Cletus is probably just lying to Goal) And Rufus does that big swap so she can keep her memories, but then…she just forgets everything? (Half-Answered: she remembers what happened in the first game, but it unclear why she seemingly forgot everything again once Rufus crashed into the escape pod on his sawblade.) If Rufus did in fact use the non-backup chip, shouldn’t she remember some of the things he’s explaining? (Theory: she lost her memories again due to Rufus’s poor cleaning of the chip in the first game?) So why is it then at the top of the tower, she fails to remember Deponia is inhabited? Is she just faking it to throw off Cletus? Or did Rufus’s plan not work for some unknown reason? (Answered: she was faking it.)įurthermore, at the start of the second game, you’re explaining how you crashed into her escape pod on a giant sawblade, and explaining previous events. ![]() However, at the very end we find out that Rufus didn’t actually do this, and he swapped the chips so she would retain her memories. So, I’ve reached the floating black market, and I have some questions about the ending to the first game and the beginning of the second one.Īt the ending of the first game, Cletus wants to us to replace Goal’s implant with the backup, so that she no longer remembers her time on Deponia. How would you have wanted it to end? - or are you happy with the way it played out? I wish it ended with a scene of him, his kids with Goal and just chilling on a farm somewhere, happily. ![]() Overall I get where the writers were going with the story, they didn't want to change the fact that Rufus had to sacrifice himself, to fulfil his character ark of becoming less selfish but I'm a sucker for good endings, even though they are overdone. ![]() Then when I found out about Doomsday I was super excited to play it! It fulfilled the prequel aspect that I wanted to see, And it seemed like it was going to have a good ending for Rufus, which is an aspect of the game that disappointed me after finishing the trilogy, Rufus died. I really love Toni's character - even when Rufus is destroying her stuff, and humiliating her, she lets him stay at her place, feeds him, and pays for the things he breaks - eg: the table at the saloon (Even though he was singing a song about how Toni is always annoying him when he broke it!) She also saves his life in the third game! I didn't expect to like this genre so I put off playing this game for a long time.Īfter finishing The Complete Journey on the epic store I wished there was a prequel where you were still dating Toni. First of all I thoroughly enjoyed the series, it's kind of like watching a cartoon unfold slowly.
